Welcome to the Bullworker Information website
This is the place to come to find any and all information regarding the Bullworker family of exercise devices.

The Bullworker is available in many forms from the early days when it was known as a Tensolator to the latest incarnation of the Bullworker X5. The Bullworker is the original isometric fitness system and has been updated slightly with minor model changes through the years.
They say that plagiarism is the greatest form of flattery so this must prove its a great product. There are many replica and copycat products on the market from slightly modified devices like the Muscle Gun, Fitness Bar, Steel Bow or the Exxerwatch down to the flagrant rippof's that try and associate themselves with the quality and reputation of Bullworker; products such as the Powerworker, Pitbull, Xtreme and Buffalo Worker are all cheap clones and not the real thing. [All these products work on the same principle as the Bullworker but quality of construction varies greatly... as do the some of the wild claims!]

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About The Bullworker
The Amazing Bullworker Story
If you are interested in Body Building, losing weight or simply increasing your strength you may have used a chest expander, resistance bands or multi-gyms at one time or another.
While you can use the Bullworker like a chest expander, you can also contract the Bullworker opening a whole new set of muscles to exercise. It is this contraction that makes the Bullworker such an incredible Body Builder and is the reason why the Bullworker revolutionized the bodybuilding and martial arts industry.
The Bullworker was invented by Gert F. Kölbel. The principle on which these exercises are based is known as Isometric Contraction. This is described in more detail below.
The Bullworker over the years has been used by Famous Personalities, such as:
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Mohamed Ali
- Bruce Lee
- Barry McGuigan
- David Prowse (the man behind the Darth Vader mask)
Gert F. Kölbels commonly accredited as the creative force behind the world famous product that came to be known as the Bullworker. In 1957 using his experience as a gymnast and bodybuilder he opened his first Gym in Germany. During the early 1960’s Gert invented the home gym exerciser Bullworker.
Christmas has passed and the Turkey has made me fat
So, Christmas 2007 has come and it's been a merry old time in the 'dog' household with lots of Christmas Cheers, Lots of Festive Wine and even more Seasonal Turkey, Mince Pies, Chocolates and sundry other goodies.
Net result is one big fat doggy!
So it's time for a New Years commitment.
I'm going on a journey from FAT to FIT!
Starting on News Years day I'm going to chronicle my daily evercise routines, with photos (gasp!) and possibly even Videos (swoon!) on my mission to drop weight (seriously, I've got a lump to lose) and build muscle.
Some of the older Bullworker models
Courtesy of Bullworker USA:
Regardless of which model you own, Bullworker works with its isometric principles. There is no minimum compression level for Isometric Exercise because Isometric is based on muscular RESISTANCE, so whether you compress 1cm or 10cm the Bullworker works for you… Guaranteed.
That is the Isometric Principles that deliver Bullworker results.

Does One Fitness Product "do it all?"
Not quite, but there is one that delivers
Strength Tone Flexibility Endurance
And does so while being versatile, durable, portable and affordable. That is very impressive combination for a product costing less than $100 and is more versatile than its predecessor that sold nearly 10 million units in the 1970's.
It is called the Steel-Bow, and it is an improved design of the time tested and proven Bullworker. It is 20 inches long and weighing less than 2 pounds, it offers resistance levels from "one pound to almost impossible."
The Steel-Bow offers three fitness routines: Isometric, Isotonic & Iso-Motion. All 3 routines offer excellent fitness benefits alone, yet all three easily interchange, complimenting each other and providing the change in workout routines needed every four to six weeks to keep the body in top shape.
The best-known routine, Isometrics, offers strength building flexing in the form of single 10-second exercises. Isometrics are known for their fast strength producing benefits, without adding bulk to your frame.
The second routine is Isotonic (repetition and sets) which gives the user tone and definition. The principle behind the Isometric routine is very similar to the principles behind the BowFlex; the further one bends the rod, in this case, compresses the Steel-Bow resistance spring, the greater resistance. Like the BowFlex, the resistance factor is not equal throughout the compression of the unit, but the resistance factor is ALWAYS present. Outside of the purist or the professional competitor, the routine is extremely effective.

Benefits of Isometric Training In Everyday Life
Increased Lean Muscle Mass – Regular training stimulates the growth of new lean muscle tissue. This is vital, not only for looking good, but staying healthy as it burns fat, strengthen your bones and keeps you young.
Increased Metabolism – The more lean tissue you have the faster you burn calories and the faster your metabolism becomes. Lean Muscle tissue is metabolically active – it requires more calories to sustain it than fat.
Isometric Exercises & Static Strength Training
Isometric exercises, also known as static strength training, involve muscular actions in which the length of the muscle does not change and there is no visible movement at the joint.
The term 'static contraction training' is sometimes used to describe isometrics. However, 'contraction' signifies a change in length (shortening) of the muscle belly, which does not occur during static strength training. The term 'static action' is preferred to static contraction.
I found this page when randomly surfing - its about the early days of Bullworker Advertising
Back in the early days of Bullworker, a fella called Drayton Bird is accredited as the main force behind the first advertising explosion for Bullworker. He created an ad campaign with a number of advertising keywords, or hooks. This got the Bullworker out there and millions of people bought it based on the following advertising:

Bullworker X5 Multi-Coloured Edition
In late 1995 the Bullworker Europe Company changed it's model lineup to use multi-coloured grips after advice from an advertising consultant. The range was adapted to include a range for Juniors, Ladies, Men and Seniors. Although the model was physically the same unit it now came in 2 different spring strengths. These two models were then further defined by 4 different colours of hand-grips.
THE MULTI-COLOURED GRIP variants of Bullworker have now been discontinued and replaced with the new BULLWORKER GOLD.
